President Truman greets Dr. Chaim Weizmann, leader of the new Jewish State in Palestine, and receives from him a “Torah,” or sacred scroll. The Israeli President, hoping for lifting of arms embargo, later sails from New York on first leg of journey to the Holy Land.

Congressmen slug it out on the baseball field. The Republicans versus the Democrats, six innings of good fun, with the Demos winning 23-14. Five-thousand spectators witness the annual classic at Griffith Stadium.
British Soccer Champs Win
Soccer at its thrilling best is seen at Triboro Stadium in New York City where members of touted Liverpool soccer team, here on goodwill visit, decisively defeat the Metropolitan All-Stars soccer team, 5-1, in a downpour of rain.
