Shuttle mission to Regensberg, Germany
The Schweinfurt-Regensburg (Regensberg) Mission on August 17, 1943 was a “double-strike shuttle mission” in WWII that entailed two large forces of B-17 Flying Fortress bombers attacking separate German targets and was the first “shuttle” mission in which all or some of the aircrafts landed at a different airfield and bombed a target on their return flight to their home base.
