Unedited footage. With the 2nd and 4th Marine Division on Tinian Island in the Northern Mariana Islands in the western Pacific Ocean. The invasion of Tinian was phase III of “Operation Forager.”
Shows an unidentified Tinian civilian with microphone broadcasting a surrender message or appeal to the Japanese soldiers on Tinian to surrender. Shows Marines and an unidentified woman in group. Shows surrender of Japanese soldiers and natives of the island. Shows cannon fire from tanks and mortar fire from a half-track. Gruesome scenes of bodies of Japanese soldiers and natives that were killed by gunfire or committed suicide on orders of the Emperor.
