United Automobile Workers (UAW-CIO) are temporarily inducted into the Army for training at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, with the 83rd Infantry Division. Civilian auto plant workers, formerly building automobiles, are now employed in defense plants building tanks and planes. Shows these civilian plant workers in military uniforms going through basic infantry training. Shows tank manufacturing plant and aircraft manufacturing plant.

Shows civilian auto workers arriving by train to begin their military training. Auto workers receive medical examinations for temporary induction into the Army and issued military clothing. Shows Various phases of military training, Fixed bayonet charge, firing M1 Garand rifle on firing range, crossing swinging bridge on the double, judo tactics, and the GI blanket fold for their bunks. Shows workers doing Army mess duty. Scene of American defense plant and defense workers building the weapons and tools of war. Army soldiers visits an M3 General Lee tank manufacturing plant. Shows the U.S. M5 Stuart light tanks on the proving grounds, Rolls Royce engine plant, M4 General Sherman medium tanks at a Chrysler plant, Willow Run where the B-24 Liberator Bombers are built.
