Battle of San Pietro
This film chronicles the savage fighting between American and German forces for control of the Liri Valley in Italy during World War II. The taking of the Valley is shown with its attendant military and civilian casualties. Scenes following the battle show villagers as they returned to their devastated town and attempted to rebuild their lives. Director and writer John Huston also narrates the film.
