Return of Art Treasures, Florence Italy

Synopsis: Florentine art treasures stolen by the Nazis returned to Florence, Italy July 21, 1945 by U.S. 5th Army. U.S. 5th Army trucks loaded with Florentine art treasures, and guarded by U.S. Military Police (MP), arrives at Piazza della Signoria, Florence, Italy. This is part of the half billion dollars worth of Florentine art treasure looted (stolen) by the Nazis and taken to Bolzano, Italy by retreating Germans troops.

Shows the military trucks entering the L-shaped square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy and passing by the American, English and Italian officials on the reviewing stand. CU of officials on reviewing stand. Shows crowd in the Piazza della Signoria with reviewing stand in BG. Trucks are driven through the Piazza della Signoria. Shows crates of paintings and treasures in a warehouse. A crate is opened revealing a rare painting: “Madonna and the Rosary” by Murrilo
