A quiet harbor in rural England in July 1944 Sailors playing cards in a U.S. Coast Guard Barracks and a Navy Chaplin typing on a 1940’s typewriter. Shows LCI (Landing Craft Infantry), LCVP (Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel), Coast Guard cutter, and hundreds of ships and landing craft in an English harbor protected by barrage balloons. Numerous mock landings by troops along the coast of England while sailors chip paint and maintain the ships. U.S. Sailors on shore leave in an English (British) port lawn bowling with women in military uniforms.
Troops with full combat gear and supplies being loaded aboard transport ships. Close-up of ship hoisting anchor. Huge floating concrete structure being towed across the English Channel as part of a Mulberry Harbor or Harbour. Soldiers on troop transports crossing the English Channel. Large convoy of ships with barrage balloons overhead. German observation plane is shot down by naval anti-aircraft fire, close-up of pom-pom anti-aircraft gun firing. Religious service held by Chaplin on-board troop transport ship.
